Charlie is notoriously reluctant to use the names of many of the people that he encounters so piecing together who some of the characters are in his writing can be very difficult indeed. However, it does seem clear that one of the Manchester DA lads described in the run out on Saturday is none other than Tom Idle who was to become Charlie’s best friend and companion for almost the whole of the rest of the decade.
