Thursday, July 27 – Bolton Moors

At 7.15 tonight, my pal called for me to have a run over the moors. Of course I was ready, so we started immediately. Beyond Horwich we turned right at the Millstone Hotel, and after one and a half miles of climbing mostly, we turned right again. Swooping downhill, we ran between the lakes to Rivington Village, a pretty little place with a shop that serves as the whole shopping centre. Uphill we walked by ruined farmsteads, and low rounded peaks. After about three miles of part-riding, we came upon a familiar road, and soon flashed into Belmont. The road from here we timed ourselves, and we completed five and a half miles in 15 minutes.
