Thursday, March 15 – Chorley

Started out at 7.45pm on an errand.  A roaring gale sent me scudding along up Chorley New Road.  Reaching the Crown Hotel, I turned left and so on to Chorley in good time – 8.35pm.  I was made to have supper before I left, so consequently it was 9.45 before I climbed Cowling Brow and took the lanes route back.  This road provides a welcome change to the usual main road which is extremely monotonous at the best of times.  From Horwich I had a terrific struggle against a high wind, and I was glad to follow a tramcar up the road.  At last I reached Bolton town, and after a chat with one of the club I arrived home at 10.45pm.
