Tuesday, December 9 – Millington

I felt in form for a good, fast run tonight, so I made a start at 7pm towards Atherton.  The night was cold, and a thick fog made the going slow at first.  I ran out of it at Leigh, however, and warmed up to a speedy pace via Glazebury and across Chat Moss to Glazebrook and Rixton.  Over Warburton Bridge to Heatley, then the Broom Edge road for a mile, turning again along a bylane, which later joined the Altrincham – Lymm road.  Opposite the Stamford Arms, I turned along yet another lane, which, after climbing a little swung round, and dropped me at Millington.  Continuing past Boothbank, I later reached Chester road, and soon climbed to St. Margaret’s Church, and Altrincham.  Then Sale, Stretford and at Barton Bridge, I ran into the fog again.  Uphill now, through Worsley to Walkden, and home along Salford road at 10.15pm.
