Catch up Sketches (13)

So here we are again, Charlie quite unable it seems to escape the grip of his family, although it was all in a good way I am sure.  To day it is the turn of his younger brother Norman to ‘volunteer’ to accompany Charlie on his cycle ride to Robin Hood’s Bay in a sort of circular route.  There is no mention of strife however, but there seems to be a complete absence of brotherly love !

Windy and Cold !

By any cycling standards, today was not the right one for 92 miles on an old banger.  Windy and cold, the first day of February would be considered by any normal person as suitable for cafe-hugging and maybe a little light exercise !  But Charlie and Tom are made of stronger stuff, and I suppose the complete absence of rain would help.  But they still racked up a 13 hour day up to 9pm.

More Mystery !

The only helpful comment I can make is that whilst Lancaster Castle is just that, a Castle, Preston is the County Town of Lancashire, from where all administration for the County is carried out, which would have included Bolton.  Unless he was on some sort of educational course – and things like that are never mentioned in his narratives – then the mystery remains as to why a shop floor foundry worker would go Lancaster and Preston on successive days for a timed appointment.
